During busy times of the year such as Christmas, royal mail delivery may take a little longer but we have no control over this.

How can I keep my candles looking their best?
Candles should not be exposed to direct sunlight, fluorescent lighting or other strong lighting for long periods as the wax will start to soften. Keep your candles at room temperature in a dry place.

Light your candle away from drafts making sure its not near an open window, door, vent or even a place where people constantly walk past. The draft will cause the flame to dance around and potentially produce smoke.

Do I need to trim the wick?
You may need to trim the wick of your candle before each burn, if you see a carbon mushroom on top of the wick or if the wick seems very long. When trimming the wick, you should trim to 1/4" before lighting your candle.

If the flame is getting too big and you see smoke or soot, simply extinguish the flame, wait for the wax to cool and harden, trim the wick and re-light. Always remove any debris after trimming the wick.

How can I avoid making the candle smoke when I extinguish the flame?
It is best not to blow out the flame of a candle as this causes smoke and leaves an unpleasant burning smell.

The ideal way to extinguish a candle flame is by using a wick dibber. You simply tilt the wick into the melted wax and gently lift the wick back up, this prevents smoke and smell.

Why is it recommended to stop using the candle when 5-10cm of wax remains in the bottom?
Most candle makers will recommend this as a safety precautionary practice. Candle glasses will get very hot on the bottom as the wick burns near the bottom and can cause damage to the underneath of the glass which can cause breaking or cracking. We would also recommend using a heat resistant surface for your candles.
